2/1/23 - Vision of Sound on Feb 17, 18, 19

My 2011 work, Three Studies for Baritone Saxophone and Electronics are being choreographed and will go on a mini tour with Society for New Music’s Vision of Sound. We will be in Syracuse, Geneva, NY, and Clinton, NY. Details for the concerts can be found on the concerts page.

1/26/23 - 315 Ensemble with The Evolution of the Arm

I’m excited that 315 Ensemble will be sharing the stage with The Evolution of the Arm, a Buffalo, NY based chamber group. We will open up for them on 3/13/23 at WCNY Performance Studio. The concert begins at 7 pm.

1/15/23 - Singer/Songwriter show at McCarthy’s Pub

There are a lot of shows coming up in February! One I’m really excited about is a solo singer/songwriter show at McCarthy’s Pub in Cazenovia.

12/15/22 - Benjamin Ellis: in search of distant, guiding suns

On December 16 and 18, Benjamin Ellis will perform the world premiere of in search of distant, guiding suns, a new work for classical guitar and electronics.

12/9/22 - Anne H. Goldberg-Baldwin’s Permutation

I mixed and edited my friend Anne’s upcoming album Permutations. Today the first track was released, along with the album art. The album also features my 2021 work, this is where I am right now for piano and electronics. The album comes out on February 10 on Ravello Records.

12/7/22 - 315 Ensemble: intangible landscapes

We are so excited to share our upcoming program, intangible landscapes. Saturday, December 10th at WCNY Performance Studio at 7:30 pm. The concert will feature the world premiere of Ed Ruchalski’s Song and Variant, the US premiere of I find I have less to say, and Lost Art of Losing Sleep alongside music by Yaz Lancaster, Andrew Rodriguez, Kyong Mee Choi, and Alex Groves. 10/23/22 - 315 Ensemble Presents: Andy Kozar -
Trumpet and Electronics at WCNY Performance Studio 12/3 at 7 pm

315 Ensemble will be bringing a special guest, trumpet player Andy Kozar to Syracuse. Andy is a New York City based trumpeter, improviser, composer and educator that has been called a 'star soloist' by TimeOutNY and noted for his 'precise trumpeting' by New York Classical Review. An advocate of contemporary music, he is a founding member of the contemporary music quartet loadbang which has been called ‘inventive’ by the New York Times and ‘cultivated’ by The New Yorker. The concert will feature the world premiere of Chris Cresswell’s Convenient bits of unupholstered furniture.

There are two confirmed upcoming concerts:

On August 27, 2022 Elisabeth Halliday Quan will perform my one minute opera, Has Anyone Seen My Pants? as part of Rhymes with Opera’s final concert at the Flea Theater in New York. The concert will also be live streamed. Links to come!

On September 9, 2022 Byrne:Kozar:Duo will perform my work, all that’s left is dirt and sky at the Longy School of Music in Boston, MA. I will also be giving a couple of talks on my music and community building.


Release of “When you awaken in the morning’s hush” 1/28/22

In the last week of 2021, I recorded a track a day. Three of those tracks became “When you awaken in the morning’s hush”, an ambient EP that is out today. You can stream/download the album here.


Upcoming Concerts and Events 1/22/22

I’m grateful to have a number of concerts this spring. The Society for New Music will be performing the world premiere of Impressions, a work for solo clarinet and piano, as part of their Vision of Sounds series. The work will be set to choreography.

SNM will also perform The Ruby Sunrise at Utica College and Onondaga Community College. In addition, the OCC Percussion Department will perform the world premiere of Some Far Away Outpost for percussion quartet, electric guitar, and electronics.
