On the Verge takes 1.5 seconds from a pop song and stretches it out into a 10 minute electronic soundscape.

As part of my Audifiler series, On the Verge continues my series of works that are created using small fragments of heavily manipulated samples from preexisting pop songs. Using a variety of digital music programs, including Audacity, SoundHack, GarageBand, Max/MSP, and ProTools I transform these small fragments into moving, emotional soundscapes. This process is influenced by aspects of the mash-up/remix culture, John Cage’s Imaginary Landscapes series, Brian Eno’s ambient work, and John Oswald’s Plunderphonics.
